Internship in Hardware Development and Commissioning m/f/d (80-100%)

ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with our business lines, is developing the foundations for the next
generation of ABB products. In Switzerland, ABB Corporate Research located in the proximity of Zurich employs ca. 70
scientists from over 20 countries. The Power Electronic Converters team focuses on design optimization, prototyping,
and testing of low- and medium-voltage power electronic converter topologies and systems for various applications, such
as motor drives, traction converters, and UPS systems. We offer a friendly, international work environment with the
possibility to be part of industrial research projects. Internship at ABB Corporate Research is an excellent
opportunity to obtain industrial work experience, to meet people from many different countries, and to learn to apply
theory in practice.
Your responsibilities
- Assist scientists in the development and assembly (mechanical/electrical) of power electronic converters
- Assist scientist in commissioning of converter prototypes and setting up experiments and laboratory measurement
setups
- Perform measurements on prototype converters in the laboratory
- Support scientists in troubleshooting of experimental setups and data analysis/interpretation of measured results
Your background
- Currently pursuing a B.Sc. or an M.Sc. degree Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar field; enrollment to
5th semester or higher is essential
- Proficiency in English (oral and written)
- High motivation and willingness to learn new topics and develop own skills
- Capable of independent work with self-initiative but also a team player
- At least basic knowledge in either mechanical construction/CAD design or PCB design
- Basic practical experience in performing laboratory experiments and measurements (preferably with power converters)
