R&D Engineer for Grid connected converter control (80-100%)

Do you want to revolutionize medium-voltage converters used in wind power generation to decarbonize the world? We are
looking for an R&D Engineer with strong expertise in control of grid-connected converters and a keen interest in system
modeling and optimization to join our world-leading R&D team working on medium-voltage wind converters. In the
multi-cultural environment of the R&D department you have the unique opportunity to collaborate with world class
experts in the field, further develop your knowledge and understanding of a wide range of interdisciplinary topics and

This position reports to
R&D Team Lead
Your responsibilities
- Research, development and productization of advanced current control methods for grid-connected converters
- Research, development and productization of advanced grid-following and grid-forming control methods
- Stability analysis of converter-interfaced resources
- Collaboration with universities and ABB’s Corporate Research Centers
Your background
- MSc or preferably PhD degree in power electronics with strong expertise in control of grid-connected converters
- Keen interest in system modeling and optimization
- Experience in the programming language C++ is beneficial
- Good command of English, German language skills are beneficial but not a necessity
- Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Highly motivated, creative and self-organizing team player
