    This position reports to

    R&D Team Lead

    Your role and responsibilities

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and
    system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also
    showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research &
    Development (R&D) team. The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid This role is contributing to the development of
    power converters for the global railway market from Turgi. Main stakeholders are engineering project leaders and
    product management. You will be mainly accountable for: • Participation in research and development projects • Defining
    functional unit concepts and data models for efficient reuse in engineering projects • Protection design on functional
    unit and system level • Coordinate software and hardware development in a distributed, international environment •
    Support sales and application engineers as technical expert

    Qualifications for the role

    - Ability to demonstrate your experience and enthusiasm in R&D for power electronics or system design for traction
    power converters
    - A solution-focused and structured approach as well as strong written and spoken communication skills
    - A master’s degree in electrical engineering with focus on power electronics
    - You are at ease communicating in English and German
    - Experience in the design of medium voltage drives is an advantage
    - Experience in databases is a plus
